In my previous article I mentioned how there were a many places where you can buy an Oriental rug, the same holds true for Persian rugs. There are many places that sell Persian rugs. Most companies that sell Oriental rugs also sell Persian rugs as well.

When buying a Persian rug you need to follow the same steps as if you were buying an Oriental rug. Some of those steps include checking the condition of the rug, as we already know that the condition of the rug can really affect the value of the rug. Check the colors of the rugs to make sure only natural dyes were used in the process. Make sure the colors are vibrant not dull.

Here are some more steps you should consider when buying a Persian rug.
1.Find out what type of wool was used, if it is handspun wool then it’s a great rug to buy. Why? Because handspun wool is not spun perfectly and because of this the wool will accept the colors of the dyes differently. There will be different depths of the same shade; this will result in more variations in color then if the wool was machine spun. Also the rugs that are handspun are worth more and more people look for these types of rugs, which in turn makes the value go up.
2.Next ask the dealer or seller how many knots per square inch (KPSI) does the rug have. The more knots per square inch a rugs has the better the quality the rug has. They say that the more KSPI a rug has in any given spaces indicates that the maker was very experienced in his/her craft.
3.Finally examine the rug and look for any imperfections. Normally you wouldn’t want to find imperfections in a product, but in the case of a Persian rug you want to find some. This is because Persian rugs can have very complicated designs and when the rug is handmade it will often contain flaws in the patterns. If you can’t find any imperfections or differences in the pattern, then this could mean that a machine probably made the rug. Rugs made by machine are said to be a lower quality rug. So make sure you look for these differences or imperfections carefully in order to find a good quality rug.
